Izmael in the dark: glowing glasses and a golden rim light
← web-lab showreel · a kinetic geometry notebook act I / construct

I build moving pictures out of rules:

compass arcs, phase-shifted stripes, epicycles.

Then I ship them as shaders, motion systems

and interactive tools for the web.

  • O (0, 0) — origin on the lens line
  • ⟂ circles r = 80 at (±40, 0) meet on x = 0
  • θ −90° → 270° — one compass turn, r = 40
  • ◯ aperture opens on a spring

Skills, as a phase diagram

Six lanes, one rule. Segments swing around an even grid without ever swapping order; each lane lags its neighbour by λ. Move across the field — or use the slider — to change Δφ, the phase between neighbouring points.

xᵢ = o + i/N + a/N · sin(φ + i·Δφ + k·λ)  ·  N = 4  ·  λ = 0.55  ·  Δφ = 0.90

Traces lead
to the work

Three rotating arms, one pen. Each project is tuned to its own frequencies — pick one and the machine re-tunes itself on a spring. After a full lap it moves on by itself.

Three rotating arms trace a geometric curve for Nebula.
z(t) = 0.55·e^(i·t) + 0.30·e^(i·−4t) + 0.15·e^(i·6t)
  1. Nebula GLSL shader Colorful pearlescent cloud
  2. Interference GLSL shader Tweakable interference patterns
